Terms of service
The terms on which we provide ShootDay to a club.
About these terms
These terms are between 3rd Sector Tech, who provide ShootDay, and the club using it. A club’s own membership terms are separate and are set by that club.
The service
ShootDay is membership, compliance and booking software for UK shooting clubs, provided online at https://www.shootday.co.uk and on a subdomain for each club. We will give notice before making a change that removes something a club relies on.
Accounts
- You must be 18 or over to hold an account.
- The platform does not currently record members under 18.
- A club decides who among its officials has administrator access, and which members may run the range for a session, and removes either when they stand down.
- Keep your login details secure and tell us if you think they have been compromised.
- A person may close their own account once every membership they hold is ended and no application is open. An account with nothing live that has not been signed in to for a year is closed after a month’s notice by email.
Fees and payments
There is no subscription. We take an agreed percentage of payments a club takes through the platform, collected at the point of payment. The percentage is agreed with each club. Stripe’s own processing fees are separate and charged by Stripe.
- Membership joining fees and renewals are paid through the platform. A club cannot record a membership payment taken any other way, unless we have agreed with that club that it does not take payment through ShootDay.
- A renewal is charged at the membership type’s current price and buys the period following the previous renewal date, whenever it is paid.
- A member who cancels a membership part-way through a period is not refunded by the platform. A club may make its own arrangement with the member outside it.
- Session and guest fees are recorded at the club; the platform does not take them.
A club’s responsibilities
- The accuracy of what it records, including whether a certificate has been seen and checked. ShootDay records that a club verified a document and deletes the file at that point; it does not verify anything itself, and it does not keep the file.
- Meeting its own obligations as a shooting club, including anything it must do when a member joins or leaves, and the safety of its ranges. ShootDay is a record-keeping tool: it records who checked in and out, and who a session’s range officer was; it does not supervise anyone.
- Its own membership rules — how many bookings a member may hold, when a booking may be cancelled, what happens to somebody who repeatedly does not turn up. The platform records bookings, cancellations and attendance and leaves the rules to the club.
- Its own privacy notice covering its members, including the period for which it keeps a former member’s record, which it sets in the platform.
- Any copy of its members’ data it takes out of the platform. Every export is recorded; what happens to the file afterwards is the club’s responsibility.
- Writing to its members itself. The platform sends the messages the service needs and records who has agreed to receive a club’s news; it does not send that news.
What we will not do
- Sell or share club or member data.
- Use member data to train anything.
- Show advertising or track members for anyone else.
- Let one club see another’s data.
Availability
We aim to keep the service available and will give notice of planned maintenance where we can. We do not currently offer a guaranteed uptime figure.
Suspension and ending
We may suspend a club where use of the platform is unlawful or puts member data at risk. We will tell the club why. A club may stop using ShootDay at any time; we will give it a copy of its records and then delete them, except records we are required to keep, and confirm when that is done.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes
We will tell clubs before changing these terms in a way that matters.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
